valentines day party

Since being on bed rest with "fordy" (baby Fords nickname of the week :) I have been SO ready to host something... anything! Valentines Day was the perfect excuse to throw a little party with a few couples for a little pre-Valentines Day couples "dessert and game night". I dug in my craft closet for some paper, scissors and glue and in no time had some simple invites (I hand wrote one and then photo copied the rest... so they looked %100 handmade). It was super easy and quick. I also cut out a ton of white hearts out of the leftover paper and used them for a cheap, simple decor around the house.

The rough order of events for the evening was:
7:30-8:00 arrival/ introduce people/ hors d'oeuvres
8:00-8:30 "TABOO" in the living room
8:30-9:00  dessert: "Menchies"yogurt and mix-in bar :) in the dining room
9:00-9:30 "Scattergories"in the den
9:30-10:00 "Charades" in the den

Each couple played as a team and earned points each round. We moved around the house for each event, which gave the evening a nice change of scenery and kept the games alive.  And of course the design queen Julie Martin of ruby*love LOS ANGELES made fabulous signs and tags for me :) They were so cute and exactly what I had in mind. The door sign said "welcome lovebirds" and the rest of the tags and signs were fun "lovey" words, which I put all over the house.

The "Menchies" yogurt and mix-in bar was a HIT! and it was SO affordable! Here's the secret... Menchies sells ready poured yogurt, $6.99 for 2 x-large tubs (each tub feeds 4-5 people)... If you were to pour your own yogurt there at the shop it would be about $14.00 per tub, so I saved about $45.00! I bought 4 different tubs of yogurt for a whopping $13.00! Then I bought an assortment of fruit and toppings at Trader Joe's and Ralphs. For about $20-25, we had enough dessert for 20-25 people!
Chad and I had such a fun night and enjoyed the company of some very fun friends! Here are some pics of the night.
  Enjoy!cj
